Book Lists and Book Rental Scheme
St. John's Parochial School has a Book Rental Scheme in operation throughout the school.
What is a Book Rental Scheme?
Book Rental Schemes loan textbooks to pupils and charge an annual rental fee. The books are owned by the Board of Management of the school and are rented out each year. Many schools run Book Rental Schemes. The cost of renting the books from the school is much lower than buying the books in a bookshop.
How does our Book Rental Scheme operate?
In September you will be asked to pay the book rental fee to the school, and to sign a contract to state that you will look after the books and return them in good condition at the end of the year. The Book Rental Scheme may not cover all books. Workbooks are not included in the Book Rental Scheme. We will let you know what books are available on the book rental scheme and what books you will need to buy the end of the school term in June.
When your child comes back to school in September, the class teacher will give him or her the books that are covered by the scheme. Your child will use these books for the school year. It is important that your child looks after the books carefully because they belong to the school. At the end of the school year, your child returns the borrowed books to the school in good condition.
What are the benefits of a Book Rental Scheme?
Buying school books can be costly for parents. Using a Book Rental Scheme is one way of reducing this cost.
